MoriaMod - Chapter 1: The Last Bridge - Vers. 0.5 - Jul - 2002

Introduction
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The Last Bridge" is an single-player map for Severance and  will be the first 
level of the Mod, although the definitive version may be different. We hope to 
eventually have four or five levels for the Mod.

With the breakup of Rebel Act, the Mod's development for Blade has been 
affected. But in MoriaMod we have every intention of continuing with our work.
So we thought that perhaps it was the ideal time to show something of it. This
way you will be able to see that we are endeavouring to develop an exiting
new Blade Mod.

In spite of our good intentions, what we offer here is only a first approach. We 
have not included some important features as:  

* Animated intro.    
* New monsters, objects, skins, animations,...    
* The magic system.    
* Customized interface.    
etc...

We want these features to be included in the final version of the Mod.  

Despite these reservations, we believe that 'The Last Bridge' it is an
eminently playable map that can show some of the design concepts that we are
developing at MoriaMod. Also, with the  publication of this map we can gather
suggestions on the playability, more popular features, design anomalies,
etc...


Main features of 'The Last Bridge': 

* A good selection of puzzles and traps that we think will be interesting.
  Our objective is that you take about two hours to complete  the map.  
* We have taken great care in the design of the map, including camera
  movements, animations, special effects, music,etc... but only using 
  material available in the original game.
* There are some new objects, although using the models of the original
  game.
* Save/Load option is enabled.
* Some enemies exhibit behavior different to those of the original
  game.    
* Allied characters (NPCs) that help us in our adventure.
* We have designed a conversation system that gives greater depth to the
  story and opens up new possibilities.

From MoriaMod, we hope you like this release, and that you have patience with
the map and forgive all the shortcomings that you may find. If you have doubts,
suggestions, problems,... please send us a mail or you can post at the regular
Forums where we would be pleased to help you.

The Map

The map is played as any Blade map, although you will have to learn some new 
techniques. Firstly, some characters are friends. In Blade, you fight against  
everything that moves. Here, it's important to distinguish the allied
characters because without their help it is more  difficult to complete the
map. If your attitude is friendly toward them, then the map will be easier.    
  
Secondly, we have also included conversations. Some characters speak to each
other when they see us. To talk with other guys you must initiate the
conversation by pressing the T key. It's important to remember that the
conversations offer useful information. If you ignore them you will find more
difficult to complete the map.

To learn how the conversations are used you can consult the documentation
that accompanies the mod Talk System; but here's a summary. When a conversation
begins a frame will pop up with the character's dialogue and one or more
alternative answers. 

The selected answer will be marked by the symbol '> ' and it will be of a 
different color. We can navigate to another answer by using Tab or R-Click. 
Press Enter or L-Click to confirm the answer.

The text is sometimes too big to visualize it in the frame. If so you will
be able to use PgUp/PgDown or the mouse wheel to scroll the text. 

The complete keyboard map is the following: :

	T		To begin a conversation
	
	PgUp		Scroll up
	WheelUp	
	
	PgDown		Scroll down
	WHeelDown  
	
	Tab		Next answer
	R-Click
	
	Enter		Select answer
	L-Click
	
	Esc		Cancel conversation


Also, the characters will sometimes give us interesting  information
that is registered in a Journal. A  book icon will appear onscreen and 
pressing the key "J" will open/close the Journal.
